Combining Kingston and OCZ memory on EP45-UD3L
« on: February 24, 2011, 06:23:27 am »
All, I am currently using 2 sticks of OCZ2P10664GK on Gigabyte EP45-UD3L motherboard in dual channel mode. I am looking to get Win 7 and add couple of more sticks of DDR2. I am considering 2 sticks of KHX8500D2T1K2/4G to fill the remaining slots.  Question is will I be able to run these 4 memory sticks in a dual channel mode? What is the max speed I will be able to run them at (both are rate at 1066 but different CAS and voltages).
Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

As a general rule it is inadvisable to try and mix different models of memory let alone different makes. Even im you did manage it you would have to set the timings to the loosest available.
