GA-X38T-DQ6 Flexible Memory Mode

GA-X38T-DQ6 Flexible Memory Mode
« on: August 18, 2009, 05:37:10 pm »
I have a GA-X38T-DQ6 (Rev 1) motherboard that has 2 1GB Corsair DDR3 PC3-8500 memory modules installed. I purchased 2 2GB Corsair DDR3 PC10600 memory modules. I removed the PC3-8500 modules and installed the PC10600 and it works fine. If I try to add the PC3-8500 modules back in, the computer appears to boot but nothing appears on the monitor. My light on my monitor simply flashes. What do I need to do to get the modules to work together? I thought Flexible Memory Mode would kick in automatically. Thanks.

They probably won't work. They're different sizes, speeds, timings (and probably volts). Sometimes you can get away with it but its not reccomended.

They are different sizes but the volts are the same. Oh well, I was hoping that I could still use that extra 2Gig.

You could try updating to the latest BIOS? But I don't think you're going to be able to use them. Tbh 4GB of RAM is plenty for most people :)
