P67A-UD4 Cold Boot Issues

P67A-UD4 Cold Boot Issues
« on: February 21, 2011, 12:11:19 pm »
Hmm; I am not one of the lucky ones with this ud4

Stable in prime, occt, linx for hours. 4.8 1.39 stable temps 60 load. Great once i am in windows. 2600k ht off. Works like a charm in windows, not lock-ups bsod etc.

Issue that has been there from the start; is cold boot issues. All bios from the 6's, 7b etc, to 8b, etc it is there. Pll enabled bios.  If I leave my pc for a day, turn it on it hangs on cold boot up and I have to open the case put the jumper on and clear cmos; re-load my profile and boot up and it is fine. It is an absolute pain in the a__!
I am only using intel sata 3.0 slots, memory is 1866 1.60v, cls 9 and passes memtest.

I have heard asus has had the issues, but fixed them; looks like others have had issues with six series gig boards too...looks like the dual bios is too sensitve?

This needs fixing...

It would indeed seem to lead to this conclusion as there have been other reports along the same lines.

I can't offer any advice at the moment apart from contact GGTS and complain and maybe they will try and fix it. I can't understand why Gigabyte's BIOSes are seeming to lag behind other manufacturers recently as this was always one of their strong points.

Yes, seems to be a slow repsonse that could be fixed with a bios update...

I sent in a complaint as you suggested...
Thanks for the quick reply.

Having the same issue on the UD5 - I submitted a ticket, and they have sent me a beta BIOS (F7e) - gave it a go last night, but still no joy...  ;-(

Looks like they haven't found the solution yet!

Well at least that shows they are aware of the problem and working towards a fix for it.

Just an update - Gigabyte have contacted me and said they can run a memory test at 1600Mhz with no issues so advised me to RMA the board.

I'm not convinced this is the true solution...

Personally I would be inclined to agree with you but if that is their advice I don't think you really have much option but to follow it. It might be that they want to get hold of your board and do tests with one they know has the problem. Have they said they will replace the board or just want to check it out ?
