Hi there,
I recently bought two of the h67d2h mobos, at first both systems worked great, however one of the systems is now having trouble with what seems to be the IDE/SATA controller. Initially the symptom was that the DVD writer drive would be identified in POST as a string of 'bottom left corner characters' so it looked like this:
LLLLLLLLLLLLLLL LLLL
And then the post would get on to the 'Detecting IDE devices...' phase and would hang indefinitely. I tried putting in the other DVD Writer drive from the second duplicate system and the same problem exists (which is what led me to conclude it was mobo not drive). I also tried a completely different model of drive (Samsung as opposed to the two original LGs) in case it was a model specific incompatibility.
The Samsung seems to always be identified correctly in POST and the 'Detecting IDE devices...' phase passes in milliseconds, however there are frequent IO failures from the drive (for example when installing OS) causing the OS setup to fail. What is more weird is that the failure comes earlier and earlier in the process of OS setup file copying upon each restart and reattempt.
I tried to flash the bios of the mobo with the latest bios however the QFlash reports that all version above F4 are 'not valid images'. So it has F4 (an upgrade from the boxed F3). Still no fix.
Is there a known issue with this mobos SATA controller or have i just got a dodgy board?
