Guardy,

That's not the only problem with the USB 3 in this board. Someone also found that if you enable USB 3 in the bios and install the driver (any driver so far up to 2.0.34.0) , the system won't resume from hibernation or from hybrid-sleep after powerloss (which is also hibernation)

The only solution StumpyBloke found was in fact to buy a USB 3 card.

Check out the thread if you want:  http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,3866.msg34501.html#msg34501

Update time.

I went out and bought an addon card.  Same issue.  So I give up at this point.  Another motherboard maybe?  I don't think UBS3 is quite that important to me as yet.  Might just live with USB2 till Ivy Bridge comes out and I think about upgrading.

Anyway, as always, any and all feedback is welcome.

Thanks.  :)

USB3.0 is still in it's infancy and so problems are bound to occur but as with any new standard these things will get ironed out along the way. Even though the boards with the capability of USB3.0 have been out for months it has only been fairly recently that the devices to plug into them have been appearing on the market in any quantity.

the latest  driver version 2.1.19.0 for NEC/RENESAS USB3 Controller solved the USB 3 problem for me (external HD wasn't recognized), you can find it here:

Yes, as new drivers come along a lot of these problems will get ironed out. It is just annoying while you are waiting for them.

As I have a new driver for USB 3 just doing some tests with & without new driver. I cannot believe how
slow the USB 2 is on this board using USB sticks. Tried on earlier Gigabyte board & sticks load in half the
the time. Is this another mix & match botch by Gigabyte. Hope I don't find same problrm with USB drives.
Not sure yet if x86 or x64 makes a difference until I program 32 bit OS.

Regards tinker.

I can't say that I have noticed any particular slowness with regard to USB2 speeds but Gigabyte motherboards are certainly slower than most other makes when it comes to the boot procedure. I haven't been able to test the USB3 performance yet as I don't have any compliant hardware.

@Dark Mantis, not fully sure whats happening with USB. The sticks were slow to be found, then would  get blank
page which would slowly load using Win 7 x64. Another annoyance was when inserting USB stick at back of PC
it would knock out the keyboard/mouse USB stick that I am temporarily using to program PC. Had to unplug
then reinsert to get working.
However, plugged in my IDE drive this morning which still has Win 7 32 bit from earlier UD3R M/B that I
updated drivers, USB is OK. Not sure yet if 64 bit or the fact that Win update trashed my OS but recovered.
Am doing fresh install x86 on another drive. If USB ok looks like will have to redo x64 bit, can't win !!!!

Regards tinker.

Does sound like a corrupt file or driver somewhere doesn't it ? Probably bite the bullet and do a fresh install of Windows to make sure.
