EP45T extreme : no boot

EP45T extreme : no boot
« on: March 01, 2011, 09:16:10 am »
Dear all,

after two years of good service my EP45T Extreme has stopped to work , it doesn't complete the boot .
This happened switching on the power with the soft power button.
The POST code are C1, C3 , 02 then some figures too fast to read , then reboot , and repeat again .
During boot attempt emits a very short sound on beeper , more a noise than a beep .
Cpu fan has an attempt to start but doesn't start (this should be normal) .
After some attempted boot cycles, it automatically switch off the power, wait some seconds then switch on by itself and try again , until I switch off  manually the power .
Power supply is Enermax Liberty 500W , cpu is Core 2 E8200 .
Any idea ?

thanks in advance

Change out the power supply get a 650watt minimum.....My bet is your PSU has failed. There is a way of checking it

I expect Fatman is correct there but it might be worth just clearing the CMOS first and then try it again.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least ten minutes before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Opimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

Dear all,

SOLVED ! Dark Mantis was right : the cmos ram was screwed , so much to resist even to conventional cmos reset , that I did several times , there are even two dedicated buttons for that , but evidently not fully effective as the removal of battery .
Removing the battery has been a pain , in a forest of copper pipes , only God knows how I didnt't make any short circuit .

thanks to all !
