GA-X58 UD7 Rev2 and Amd Firepro V7800
« on: March 02, 2011, 08:16:15 am »
 I have a card  firepro v7800 2gb and the GA-X58 UD7 Rev2 Mothermord. I run Autocad Architecture 2011 x64 and Autocad civil 3d 2011
x64. when running 3d config it said that the card has only 996 Mb of
memory in both autocad programs. Also running dxdiag get the same
results 996mb of memory. So amd said to me to return the card in the
purchase point. I return the card back to the point of purchase. They
send me a new card which has exactly the same problem. It appears to
have only 996 mb of memory. Well today i try to make a new
install using this time windows 7 32 bit. With 32 bit operating system
the card seem to work correctly.  I have tried all the versions of 64 bit amd drivers, with
the same result.996 mb of memory.
The last think that amd said to me is that "It is possible it is an out of date chipset driver on the motherboard in 64Bit "
I have install the latest drivers from GIGABYTE Site

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I would suggest that you make sure that your BIOS and drivers for the motherboard are the latest ones just to make sure that it is not that. This is not a common problem though.

Even though you sent it back and they supposedly replaced it this wouldn't be the first time I've heard that. I would feel happier if you could test it in another board and get the true amount reported.

I have already done this. The some problems. But i dont understand why this happen in win 7 64 and not in win 7 32? Thats why i m think thats its a chipset driver problem. I Google it and i found in toms hardware forum exactly the same problem in june 2010 but no solution. I m contacting with amd too, but i try here because i think that maybe a chipset driver problem

Although it is a possibility I have not heard of anyone else complaining of this problem and I would have thought that it would have been more prevailent if that was the case.
