I can't even change the wake settings under the device manager it is grayed out for let this device wake my computer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte forum.

Have you checked in the BIOS to see whether the USB devices are enabled to Wake from sleep?

You can only use PS/2 mouse or old Win98 keyboards (With on/off buttons) to resume from sleep.

And in order to use mouse (PS/2) to resume from sleep you need to enabled it in the BIOS as mentioned above, in the power options page set double click.

That is not true. I have two of these boards and I can resume the other computer with my usb keyboard or mouse. I also know people who resume it with a dinovo mini keyboard. So I don't know whats wrong.

The manual even states it must be PS/2, mouse anyway, and keyboard must have the old win98 style on/off buttons also stated in the manual.

I use USB devices, and the only time I can resume a board via USB is by mouse and that mouse must be on a USB to PS/2 adapter.

However, there is a new BIOS option for USB wake (Can't remember what it is, maybe mouse), so you may want to check if that is enabled on your board.

To check that on the MAIN page of the BIOS press Control + F1, then go into the power settings and you will see the new Wake from USB something.   Now that I type that out I think it is wake from USB, so please check that out.   I will check for you myself as soon as I get a few posts replied to here.

*Edit*

Just checked, and the above is correct.   It's a new hidden setting, Wake from USB Device S3, so please use the hotkey and ensure this is enabled. Not sure if that applies to mouse or keyboard or what?

And as with any USB Device, some may not be compatible, so if you can wake your other board with USB KB or Mouse, but not this board, try the other devices from the working PC on this trouble one.

Hello !
I bought a GA-H55n-USB3 a few days ago in order to build a HTPC under Ubuntu 10.10 + XBMC.
Almost everyithing works properly but I still have a problem with USB Device wake-up from S3.

I think that I have correctly set the bios options, as mentionned above.
I think that my USB devices are not really exotic : a MCE remote and a S510 cordless mouse + keyboard.

Two possible explanations :
- My devices are not compatible with the wake-up from S3 option of the current BIOS (F5)   >:(
- By fixing another USB / sleep issue in Ubuntu, I made my two devices non-working with wake-up from S3.
(Even if It would be strange that OS settings have repercussions on sleep mode)

Before doing anything more, I would like to know if someone manage to wake up from S3 with one of these USB device under Windows OS.

Thank you ! (and excuse my English!)

Hi and welcome to the Gighabyte Forum.

I must admit to not being a Linux expert but I have noticed that Ubuntu in particular does have problems with this. Try doing a search of the recent forum threads as there was someone a couple of days ago with a similar problem that I think they manged to get fixed.

Hello and thank you for the quick answer.

I tried doing a search of the recent forum threads as you wrote above and used the search tool, but I didn't see anything interesting for me.
Please could you please give me a link toward the thread you mentionned ?

I made some tests : I tried wake-up by USB device with 2 differents powers (20 pins and 24 pins) and 2 different OS (Ubuntu 10.10 and Windows 7).
None of these changes didn't fix the wake-up by USB device issue.
So  I will conclude that my devices (MCE remote and a S510 cordless mouse + keyboard) are not compatible with the wake-up from S3 option.
I'm quite disappointed...

Edit :
I managed to wake up my computer with my mce remote and my cordless desktop..... but only in Windows and after I had installed the drivers of the motherboard.
I think that there' s a link with the on/off charge driver wich increase the power of the usb ports.
I'll try a workaround later...
