I have the same problem.
No issues for an year, from this morning the lan do not work. Sorry for the stupid question, but how have you upgraded the drivers? I didn't find it on the realtek page.

Hi there,

if you go here: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/download-center.aspx?kw=GA-890GPA-UD3H then click on the driver link for your motherboard's revision it will take you to the correct download page.

Choose your Windows operating system from the menu and then download the latest Realtek LAN Driver. Once you have downloaded the update you can run it by double clicking on it. This will automatically remove and replace the needed drivers.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Thanks, done it.
I've upgraded from FD to FF and the realtek drivers but still doesn't work.
Realtek diagnostic says the cable is connected but the connection state is 'disconnected'.
Maybe is it an hardware problem? How can i test it?

The problem is more likely to be software rather than hardware so......

Are you dual booting your system?
What OS'(s) are you running?

No. I use a different HD for linux, and it's not connected now (and it wasn't connected when lan stops working)
Win 7 64 Ultimate
AMD Phenom II 965

In Windows 7 under Device Manager, is there a yellow question mark or red exclamation point showing on the Network Adaptor?
If the answer is no then Windows doesn't have a problem with the hardware and you will have to look at your software environment.

Another thing to consider is that Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 has just been let loose. Have you downloaded and installed this? If the answer is yes than is it possible something went wrong with the update process and affected the LAN Drivers?

Have you installed any other updated drivers recently?
Have you installed any new programmes?
Have you installed new hardware/drivers?

Can you connect to the internet if you use your Linux install?
Is your Router working OK?

Windows sees the adaptor correctly (it seems) and it says that have no problems. I haven't downloaded sp1 yet.
No, i don't remember any update or recent installation.
My router works fine: i'm using a wireless usb adapter  now to connect to the internet through the router wlan and the lan works with another pc.
I'll try with linux now, but i don't think it will different cause linux or not the lan led on the router when it's connected at the realtek adapter is off, when it's connected to the laptop lan adapter is green with the pc off.

Yes sometimes it is the best way to get it back but do bear in mind that it is not a fix as such but a remedy. ;)

Seems this RealTek LAN adapter/chip is a REAL problem on these motherboards!

Once again, it stopped working.  No reason, it just stopped.

For a while, I was able to get it working by running the RealTek diagnostics, but this time, no go.

So, I stuck in a 1GB network card and began using it.

Then yesterday, I was at the GB site and noticed they have upated their LAN driver -- again.

So, I downloaded that, replaced the older driver with the new one -- and the onboard LAN works again!

This is the second update of this LAN driver in a few months.  They must be having serious problems with it.

There does seem to be a stability problem with it recently. No doubt that is what they are trying to address.

The lan works but i noticed another problem after i've been kicked from a game server due to an high ping. If i ping the modem/router through lan, every tot seconds i got an high ping (usually from 500ms to 1000ms).
It's not a router side issue cause i tried it on my laptop and it works perfectly, and the drivers are the latest.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Very hard to say what is causing it really. It could be something else interferring with the LAN ports communication with the CPU, or a driver problem, a hardware problem... :-\
