GA X58A-UD3R Ethernet cable problems
« on: January 24, 2011, 03:03:50 pm »
Built a new pc over the weekend and having problems with the ethernet port.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte x58a-ud3r rev2. All the motherboard drivers are up todate and im running Windows 7.

The cable is connected to a D-link router(provided by Virgin Media). The cable worked fine on my old pc and works fine on my laptop also.

When you plug the cable in the network sharing on windows 7 says its Enabled, identifying, Network cable is unplugged.

At the moment its working now but the download speed is only at 9MB(should be 20mb). The laptop is running at 20mb on wireless and 20mb when you plug the same cable in.

Any ideas to what is the problem?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Initially I would try updating the drivers for the ports as you could be using old drivers.

Check in Device Manager and see if it complains of any problems.

If that doesn't help please list your hardware including PSU and modem/router.

Hello,

First of all i apologize about my english (i´m from Spain).

I have just bought a GA-x58a-ud3r Rev2.0 and i have the same problem with ethernet port. I have seen other forums and people have the same problem. I update all the drivers on my Windows 7 64bit, Linux... I update the bios (FF)....

Ethernet is working sometimes, but i think if i restart the computer ehternet dies. If i shut down, wait a minute, and power on, it alives again.

May be it can be solved with a new bios update?

I had got another GA-x58 ud3r Rev1 and it hasnt this issue. And i had a H55n-usb3, its great.

Hello and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Your English is fine so don't worry about it.

There is a bit of a problem with these LAN connections at the moment as I notice quite a few people complain of a similar thing. As you say it can usually be rectified by doing a cold boot but that doesn't keep it away. I agree I think it needs a BIOS fix. I would suggest contacting GGTS about it and the more people do so the quicker they will work on it.
