bios update ga-p67a-ud7

I'm trying to update the bios for my board. I managed to update from F3 to F4. If I try any other bios image, it's giving me an error message "invalid bios image". I've read that you can't jump to the latest straight away - so I tried going from F4 to F6 (F5 isn't listed) but I'm getting the same error ;/

I take it that you already understand the problem with the initial BIOS update system and the fact that you have to use the new downloaded @BIOS program to make the first update at least ?

After that you can revert to using QFlash as normally advised for updates.

Pardon the interruption.  

I'm going to get this motherboard today along with a 2600k cpu. This is a B3 version.

On the Gigabyte website it says the bios is F6.  If you look at the bios update chart it has F7 listed as formal release.
Between F6 and F7 there is F7a.

My question is do i have to flash bios F7a then F7?

Also,since there are already bios updates installed (F3-F6), do i have to use @bios to flash to the new bios?
Or do I use Q Flash.
Sorry for all the questions.I just want to be sure of what I'm doing before I spend a LOT of money.

edit-  Ok,after reading again on the website it says "* Please use the latest @BIOS or FLASHSPI.EXE to reflash BIOS

Does this mean I can use the Flash method instead of @bios?  I.ve heard a lot of bad things about using @bios.

Hi

No I am afraid that you have it all wrong. The B3 version of the board comes with the most up to date BIOS available. The BIOS versions you have been looking at on the website are for the previous board and even though they may be a higher number than yours the date of release will be previous to your BIOS.

You shouldn't have a lot of trouble. The one I built up for the Living Review was very straightforward and bear in mind that I had the added complication of limited ports. Actually I am very impressed by the motherboard and CPU. If you are using the 2600K I will be interested to hear how yours differs from the 2500K that I have.

I have the pc up and running but the bios says F1 when I hit tab at boot.


Also in system information.   "BIOS Version/Date   Award Software International, Inc. F1, 2/14/2011"


Shouldnt this be F7? Everything seems to be working ok.

That is correct, as DM mentioned the -B3 boards do not use the older (B2) boards BIOSes.

So F1 is first, and so far only BIOS for this board.
