Gigabyte B3 Boards Really New?
« on: March 15, 2011, 10:56:57 am »
My brother and I have received our B3 boards. Mine is directly from Gigabyte. My brother's is from Newegg. Both our boards have a sticker with the new model number over the old model number.

Are these Gigabyte boards really new or is Gigabyte really just refurbishing boards and sending them out?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte forum.

I would imagine that the boards are indeed new, however when a company like Gigabyte has the motherboards fabricated they are in massive quantities with all the printing done and just because they change a chip or some other component doesn't mean they are just going to discard all their stock of PCBs because of some printing is now wrong. I think this is fair enough as long as the motherboards are in fact newly produced items.

They are indeed brand new, just B2 stock PCB's, your question was answered by a GIGABYTE Employee here (Second reply)

That's it! Just a waste of resources to destroy very many good PCBs just because the printing has changed.

For sure!

They did the same with 5870 OC cards, they use SOC PCB's, and I'm sure there are MANY other products that use other older PCB's but they would all still be new.
