Told you Gigabyte was cleverer than everybody else! They can even include things without having to put it on the motherboard!  ;D

Ah! Just sussed it. It's a VIRTUAL floppy drive!  ;D

I have the same motherboard, and do not see this in the device manager.

Are you quite sure dimmy as I missed it the first time as I thought it wasn't going to be there ?

I just can't imagine why it would appear on some boards but not on others.

Gigabyte support emailed me BIOS F5b for my GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 and it has fixed this phantom floppy controller issue.  After flashing F5b, I went into the Device Manager and the floppy controller was gone.  Just to make sure, I did that registry edit that allows you to display devices that were previously connected to the PC, but are no longer connected.  The floppy controller showed up in that showing that it was previously connected.  I right clicked on it and uninstalled / removed it then rebooted.

After Windows started up again, I went back into the Device Manager and the floppy controller is definitely gone.

Cool! That's god news as I know it wasn't hurting but it is just annoying to know it is lurking there when it is not supposed to be. 8)
