What kind of memory should I buy for my motherboard?

Before buying it is reasonable to check if the memory is mentioned in Memory Support List or QVL. QVL stands for Qualified Vendors List and is a list of memory that has been tested by GIGABYTE with the motherboard in question to certify that it is compatible and guaranteed to work properly.

Sometimes it is called other things but it is always quite understandable what it is. Both the memory manufacturers and GIGABYTE have these on their websites. That way you can be sure that your memory will work before purchasing it.

Examples:

From GIGABYTE website:

QVL for GA-X58A-UD5 http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-x58a-ud5_v2.0.pdf
How to find it? Choose your product, go to Downloads, choose Download Type: Memory Support List.
