Idle temps for GA-X58A-UD3R rev2.0

Idle temps for GA-X58A-UD3R rev2.0
« on: March 03, 2011, 03:50:00 pm »
Hi folks,
I want to start to overclock my machine but just wanted a baseline idea of what people are getting for their Northbridge and CPU temps and their ambient temps? I've been using CoreTemp which is about 5 degree higher than EasyTune and at idle without OCing gettin around 35c with ambient around 25c which I suspect is high.
Also the northbridge is running about 10c higher than CPU - any comments appreciated!

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Try using Real Temp as it seems to be more accurate than Core Temp.

I am liquid cooling so my temperatures tend to be lower in general. I would say your temp is a little high for idle but then it depends on your cooling system.

Can't help with comparing temps but CPU and NB temps depend a lot on ambient temp and airflow. Just an example, my NB temps went up a few degrees after installing a graphics card with more heat output than my previous one. CPU seems to run a little ( 1-2 degrees ) hotter than before, too.

Thanks for those comments. I will try to download Real Temp. Last night I took the Akasa Nero cooler off, cleaned off the old thermal paste and reapplied it based on Artic Silver's web site instructions. Was dissappointed that the temps were exactly the same as before but after a few reboot cycles noticed a drop of 3 degrees overall so in the region of 32c on idle - which in actual fact is what the instructions suggested!

I would be interested if anyone is actually cooling their Northbridge and by what method this seems to be at around 40c and upto 48-50c underload.
