GA-890GPA-UD3H OCZ Revodrive not booting

GA-890GPA-UD3H OCZ Revodrive not booting
« on: April 13, 2011, 04:07:55 pm »
I have a OCZ RevoDrive PCI-Express SSD card that I'd like to install my primary OS on.  Next to that I'd like to (but not a necessity) use the internal RAID controller for a few SATA drives.

I can boot from a CD and install the OS on one of the SSD drives (so it means the card is working fine), but when I try to boot from it, it simply fails to boot.  Is it because this MB cannot boot from a PCI-Express card?

Does anyone have a clue on how to get this solved?  I saw another post mentioning BIOS update F9C for this MB but I can't find that BIOS update

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi there,

Which revision is your motherboard?

I'm a bit confused by your post, have you been able to install the OS on the Revodrive or on another SSD?

If you have been able to install the OS on the Revodrive then you may just need to reset the BOOT Priority in BIOS.

If you haven't been able to install onto the Revodrive then you may also need to get hold of BIOS F9c as the other member did, in this thread that you refer to: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,3044.15.html
However, bear in mind that his motherboard was revision 1.0 and yours may be a different revision number and the F9c won't be suitable if yours is different.

Sorry if I was unclear.

It appears to be 2.1 so I installed bios version FF

I have been able to install the OS on the RevoDrive, but setting the boot priority doesn't help. It fails to boot.

To be honest I don't have much experience of PCI Express drives and the problem you're facing is different from the other user, who was unable to actually install the OS without a BIOS update.

What other components do you have installed in your system?
Are you using the on-board graphics or a Dedicated Graphic Card?
Do you get any messages when the system fails to BOOT? If yes, what do they say?

Usually there are two boot priority settings. One says First Boot Device the other Hard Disk Boot Priority. Make sure they both point to the Revodrive.
