Hi again Derek,

I can understand your feelings. When you tested the memopry with Memtest 86+ did you run it for hours ? This is how it should be done:

Memtest86+        http://www.memtest.org/

Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 complete loops/cycles and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all  modules.

If you have any errors the module is faulty.

If you have any faulty modules you will have to return the whole kit as they are matched.

Post back when you have done that with the results.

Well guys...
I ran MEMTEST86 V4.20 off a bootable CD.
Here are the results putting 1 2GB stick in Slot 0 and running MEMTEST:
Stick 1 ran through10 cycles clean.
Stick 2 generated errors very early in the Test.
Stick 3 froze during Cycle 8.
Stick 4 froze during Cycle 8.
I discussed a refund with the fellow I bought the board from on EBay.
I will have to pay the shipping back but he will provide a full refund.
I think 10 hours is more than a fair amount of time to put into getting this thing up.
It's too bad as I really excited about getting my hands on one of these Motherboards.

Thanks again for everyone's help and advise.
You guys are excellent.
Derek

Hi Lsdmeasap

I did wonder that myself but I figured he had bought them all together as the board was second user. :-\

Ahh, I just seen "Board return" so I assumed he was only returning the board.  Here we are, both assuming while no one is looking  ;D

It does sound like 3 sticks of bad memory, and one is good.   So I'd really just return the memory instead and buy something known to work on this board.

Me too to be honest! I think maybe his confidence in the whole kit was shaken by the memory problems. :-\

Hi Guys...
I've been reading the follow ups since I threw in the towel on this project.
I should point out that the system continues to freeze even after booting up with the 1 stick of memory that passed Memtest86.
Talking to the fellow that I bought the Motherboard from he explained to me the reason he sold it was due to stability issues.
I wish he had been up front about this in the beginning.
The advertisement read 'Fully Functional' and 'Like New Condition'.
I would have probably taken a pass on this Motherboard.
Even though I'd really like to acquire one of these Motherboards, I'd like to think I am starting out with a good Board.

Anybody know where I can get my hands on 1 of these?
They seem to come available few and far between.
Thanx
 Derek

Hi Dark Mantis.
I tried the EBuyer.Com site for this Motherboard but came up empty.
Any other places I may be able to find one?
I have started monitoring EBay if one should be come available there.
Thanx
 Derek

I am showing 10 available for purchase on EBuyer. I don't know about shipping over to Canada though.

What about Newegg ? They seem to be the biggest thing over that side of the pond.

Dark Mantis...
Normally there is no issue shipping to Canada from the UK.
I'd have to check with EBUYER.COM
Unfortunately I can see 5 Gigabyte Socket 775 Motherboards available but not the one I am looking for:
http://www.ebuyer.com/search?page=1&sort=relevancy&limit=10&q=Gigabyte+Motherboard&filtersubcat=658

I did check both NEWEGG.COM (US) and NEWEGG.CA (Canada) late last week and both show this Motherboard as Decativated.
Apparently they discontinued selling it in February of this year.
If you can send me the actual Link to the Page you are looking at on EBUYER.COM.

I'll keep looking elsewhere....
Thanx
 Derek

Sorry I should have checked I just put in the details to the EBuyer search engine and it returned the link I gave you. I hadn't noticed that it wasn't the correct one. :-[
