Questions about Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P B3 or other PCI-E 3.0 boards
« on: November 08, 2011, 01:09:03 pm »
Hi,

1. I have bought the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P B3 rev 1.0 and it appears like this motherboard will be able to run IvyBridge but only PCI-E 3.0 (full speed(x16)) on one PCI Express port? The other PCI Express ports will be using 2.0? Is this correct? This should meen that as long as no sli or crossfire are used there is really no loss?

2. I have heard that there is a rev 1.3 of this motherboard that suports PCI-E 3.0 on all ports? Is that correct? I Sweden I can only finde stores that sells rev 1.0?

3. Is there any other Z68 board from Gigabyte that supports full(x16) PCI-E 3.0 on more then one port besides the GA-Z68X-UD7-B3?

BestRegards

Hi and welcome.

I think the revision 1.3 motherboard is just floating around the ether as everybody seems to know about it but nobody has seen one yet. Maybe they will descend to the stores one day but I don't know anywhere they are for sale so far.

At the moment it isn't going to make any difference anyway as PCIE2.1 is enough for the graphics cards that are on the market at present.

Thanks!

Yes I know that 2.0 is enouth but I usually switch 2-3 graphic cards for every motherboard so future safe is a priority.

Hi Snow Jim,

I think may be released soon, so it may be a case of just waiting and of course reading the various reviews that are likely to be written before purchasing if that's what you are planning to do.

Hi,

No have have already bought the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P B3 and it works great but It would be nice to know exacly if the board supports full PCI-e 3.0 or not. I have a couple of days left to make a switch at the store to another board but I do not know of anyother motherboard that got PCI-e 3.0 from Gigabyte today (when rev 1.3 is not available of my current board).

New series of graphics cards out shortly too. The 7xxx series from AMD is due and would go nicely with the X79 motherboard and E series CPU.

I asked someone who got a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P from OcUK that arrived on Satuday and theirs was a rev 1.0  :(

Looks like the 1.3 revisions are available at Newegg in the USA as of last week, hopefully they will be in Europe very soon.

I suppose that they are just waiting to clear the older stocks before releasing the newer 1.3 revisions. It will be interesting to see if these new boards have the updated chip to give full PCIE 3.0 compliance.
