GA-EX58-UD3R Problem
« on: April 19, 2011, 08:36:57 am »
Hi,
Im new to this forum but Ive experienced a problem that I cant get around.

My setup is:
7GB 1366mhz DDR3
iCore 3,06ghz
ATI 5770 Series.

The problem comes up when im booting with a USB stick / disk connected to the computer. Its freezing on the boot logo and if I wait to plug it in after i press F12 (to enter boot menu) its stopping as well. I "LOADED OPTIMZED DEFAULTS" as well but no result. The funny thing is that when i unplugg the usb disk its booting as normal into win7. Have anyone experienced / heard about this problem? Would be great to fix it.

Thanks,

Dark Mantis

You will need to have them enabled for the machine to be able to see them at boot otherwise until Windows loads the drivers they are invisible.

Yeah, but the problem (as mentioned) is that everything is freezing when i have a usb stick / ext. HDD plugged to the computer true USB.
It wont let me go into BIOS or iether do the memory test on powering.

Yes quite. If you are telling the machine to boot from a USB device and then it cant find it that is probably what is causing the freeze. Anyway try it and we can go from there. ;)

Well, I tried to enable the things you metioned without any result. I also tried to flash BIOS using @BIOS without any results. Its still freezing when any usb stick / flashdrive is connected to the computer. It will freeze whenever i insert the USB drive / sitck.

Any other suggestion? I tried to reset the cmos as well.

You put 7GB memory and didn't say which processor it was just that it was 3.06Ghz

I know we are not looking at the memory but you have different sizes as well as different makes. This is not advisable and I am really surprised that they work at all. You would normally expect to use a matched kit of three identical modules. :o

You say everything is working fine apart from when you try and boot from a USB pendrive ?

What was the original reason for wanting to boot from the USB ?

Have you tried other USB pendrives ?

What size is the drive ?

When you tried to use @BIOS from within Windows exactly what failed ?

^^
Haha, I know. Didnt expect that combination to work at all!!  :o

You say everything is working fine apart from when you try and boot from a USB pendrive ?

Correct, only when haveing a flashdrive / stick etc connected to it.

What was the original reason for wanting to boot from the USB ?

To install OSX86 in a combination with Win7 (dual-boot). Which again uses linux to boot into the to "mac enviroment".

Have you tried other USB pendrives ?

Multiple.

What size is the drive ?

16gb.

When you tried to use @BIOS from within Windows exactly what failed ?

Nothing failed, updated as normal but it didnt help on the problem regarding the freezing.

And to the bottom line, this isnt a HUGE problem. More irritating.

Well from that all I could realy make out that could be the problem is that as we have noticed in the past some drives are not readilly compatible with the system. Often it will work on a smaller drive even when a big one wont. I would suggest trying on a 2 or 4 GB drive and see if that works.
