PCI Express Resume from Sleep Problem

Hi,

Thanks to Dark Mantis for solving my RAM queries but I have another problem now. I'm trying to get my HTPC to sleep when its not being used and it goes to sleep fine, but regularly when it resumes from sleep, one or more the the PCIe devices fails to restart. As I have tuner cards in 2 of the PCIe slots this is problematic for me.

Its a GA-H67A-UD3 and the PCIe devices are 2 x Hauppague HVR 4400 and 1 Sata extension card. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks for reading

I am afraid I am not very well up on tuner cards at all. I can say though that a lot of sleep problems are due to the system not being as stable as it should be.

I am sure that someone with more experience of this technology will be able to help you though.

I don't think that the problem is with the tuner cards. my first instinct was software but the service resumes correctly, second i considered the tuner cards but google doesn't show any particular problems plus my PCI tuner cards resume properly. then i remembered that yesterday the SATA expansion card didn't restart properly and its happened again today. The only common factor is the PCIe slots that all three are plugged into

That is what I meant by the system not being 100% stable. Not necessarillly the tuner cards themselves.

what do you mean by system stability? apart from the resume from sleep problem its solid, its been running 24x7 since i built it in January. am i misunderstanding you?

No I am sure that you understand me it's just that stability has different meanings for different people. Just because a system runs fine 24/7 doesn't necessarilly mean that it is 100% stable. It doesn't take much to upset the sleep or power savings modes at all.

Well all I can advise is to make sure that you have the latest BIOS version and drivers installed for the motherboard. Often that will help in these circumstances.

ok, can i just be clear, you are saying that the problem is likely to be with software rather than hardware and its just coincidence that the PCI cards work fine but the PCIe cards do not?

Fairly much yes. From the information we have to hand so far I believe that to be the most likely case.
