Swapping out
overclocked
6420 Core 2 Duo with Q8400 Core 2 Quad. I know to restore the clock frequencies...should I just load "failsafe" or "optimized" defaults in BIOS before doing the swap?
Mbo is GA-965P-DS3 revision 3.3 F14 BIOS

Hi
Just clear the CMOS completely and then load
Optimised BIOS Default
settings. Make sure that your BIOS supports the new processor before doing the swap though.

The Q8400 is working! I have already overclocked it a bit to 3.0 Gig. Temps at idle are hovering around 40c and do not get to 60 when stress testing with Thermalright Ultra 90 cooler. These temps OK?

Sounds good to me then. It is so worth it when things work as hoped!
