x58a-ud7 restart issue with new F7 bios

Just go into the BIOS and go to the MIT section and select the Extreme Memory Profile which should be disabled by default. When you select it there should be the option of using Profile 1. Unless you have very special memory that is the only option you will get.

Yep was going to say the same , bit pointless buying expensive memory otherwise , you'll find it'll get 7.9 in the windows exp index then

Ok chaps I selected the XMP Profile today and all I get is a hanging boot. Do I need to up the voltage on the DDR's?

No that's the whole point of using a "profile". It is all the settings for the modules optimised for the best performance.
Can you post which memory modules you are using(I mean the complete part number)?
Was there more than one profile you could choose?

I have just read through your thread again and it would be worth trying removing all your USB devices before booting and see if you still had a problem. If you don't you can then add them one at a time until you find the problematic device.

Yes i came to the same conclusion , got it down to 3 devices which will cause it to stop now , still dealing with tech atm as i think whatever they changed in F7 for improved support for USB3 ports is causing the issue , all the devices are working fine with F6 and worked fine on my old rig only thing thats changed is the bios , trouble is getting them to understand that .
FYI devices that have issues with F7 are microsoft X8 mouse , Ideazon Zboard & AMBX light sets .

Hi again Dark mantis , LONG time since i posted on this but thought i would update you . I ended up reverting back to F6 as i was going round in circles with tech support but last week i flashed the ( now removed ? ) F8 bios and that is working fine , no issues at all as far as restarting or shutting down . The only minor issue i have is using the energysaver app it appears that my powerphases are all running all the time whereas before most of them would shut down when the machine was idle and thats with all the powersaving c modes enables in bios .

Hi as you say long time!

I am glad that you finally seem to tbe winning but it has taken some time now. I don't know why they have removed F8 from the BIOS updates but maybe they found something in it that still needed some work. It may even be to do with the power phases that they are looking at it again.

I don't know either but seems to be fine here  , tbh i don;t think it's a UD7 specific as they appear to have pulled a lot of boards latest updates around the same time , just glad its resolved although i'm now waiting to see what LGA2011 brings us shortly

The 2011 is certainly something to look forward to. It is more of an upgrade to the X58 with it's multi channel support for the memory etc. I am definitely waiting to be able to try it out.
