ive just picked up a couple of 6950's for xfire on this board currently in slots pcie slots 1+ 3.

things are a pretty toasty for my liking so i wandering if it would work through 1-4 b4 i buy a 100mm xfire bridge.

ive tried 2-4 and it doesnt detect the 2nd gpu

 please check with your MoBo manual as I could be wrong, but from memory PCI 1 and 3 are x16 slots, 2 and 4 are x8 and x4...........not enough band width for high end card me thinks!..........x8 with the 2x16 slots should work with the crossfire bridging bar but x4 slot might not have enough bandwidth........check my sums but I think this correct.

Assuming that you have the GA-X5A-UD3R rather than what you posted I don't see why you shouldn't use the two x8 slots as opposed to the two x16 slots. x8 should be enough bandwidth for graphics cards but Allan would be correct if they were only x4 slots. You will need to tell the BIOS that the Primary Graphics adapter is in that slot instead of the PCIE_x16 though.
