GV-N430OC-1GL in PCIEx16 on GA-880GA-UD3H rev3.1 boot problem

As stated in the subject I have a GV-N430OC-1GL which I placed into the PCIEx16
slot on the GA-880GA-UD3H rev3.1 board.
Whenever I leave my PC turned of for more than about 8 hours, the first time I turn
it on, it beeps from the system speaker and the display wont turn on. I then leave it
turned on for about 2 minuets, turn it of and then back on again. Only then my display
turns on. Some programs/games also complain about not being able to recognize the
 video card...

I have checked the bios settings. First init display is set to PEG which is the PCIEx16 slot.
I updated the bios from FE to FF hoping it would solve the problem, but didn't.

Recently I decided to place my graphic card into the PCIEx4 slot. Since then I don't get
the boot problem at all and nothing complains about not recognizing the video card.
So all is well... but as far as I know, the PCIEx4 slot is slower than the PCIEx16 slot.
(Also, the card is covering the PCI_2 slot which I would like to use.. I'd rather have it
covering the PCIEx1_2 slot which shares bandwith with the PCIEx4 slot...)

Therefore my question is, How can I get my GV-N430OC-1GL to work properly in the
 PCIEx16 slot?

Hi

Have you updated the BIOS to the latest version ?

Are you runnning the newest drivers foir the graphics card ?

It is usually if the drivers or BIOS is outdated or the machine isn't totally stable that you get problems with waking from sleep.

Hello

Yes, when I updated my bios I made sure it was to the latest version at that time.
The board came with FE but I updated it to FF.

And I also installed the latest Nvidia drivers..   260.something

Also, while I was trying to find a solution to this strange behavior, I came across
the - not initializing after waking from sleep problem.  But I haven't noticed that,
because I never put my PC into sleep or hibernation. I always turn it off.

One thing that has crossed my mind is,  the GV-N430OC-1GL  is the factory overclocked
version of the card. Maybe I should adjust my PCIE Clock frequency ?

You could certainly try it but I would have thought if that was the problem it would more likely show as graphics issues etc.

Does it make any beeps when booting ?

Yes normally it makes a short beep when booting.

However when it happens that the display doesn't start, it makes a long beep, then almost no pause
(like in miliseconds) then another short beep.. almost sounds continues.
My previous PC made 2 beeps whenever I didn't have any display plugged in.
I recon this long beep is the same for the new PC, because I realized that it actually boots up,
Windows starts and all, but just without any display..

Normally I long beep followed by a short beep means memory or motherboard error. Try removing all the memory apart from one stick in the first slot.

No,  as I said earlier, I had the graphic card in the PCIEx16 slot,
but moved it to the PCIEx4 slot. It resolved the boot error, but
it is a slower slot which shares bandwidth with the PCIEx1_2 slot.

I am a IT technician, and have tried everything I can think of.
Everything I know of computers. It is something I've never
encountered before and was hoping that someone might know
 something I don't.

Have you tried to turn off the monitor and then turn it back on again ?

Does it have the same effect as switching the system off and waiting before turning on ?

Turning the screen off and on doesn't help,  neither does plugging out and back in.

No, it has to be turned on for a while, then off and back on again.
Turning on, then off and leaving it a while, and trying to turn on still causes boot problem.

Almost forgot about this.

problem solved.

solution:  Disabled PCIE spread spectrum,   it automatically adjusts PCIE frequency that the card doesn't like.
