DPC latency

Hi all ,
Just to check with some of the guru's here ( Morning Mantis
)
I just found some probably old info and found that disabling HPET would help with DPC timings so thought i'd give it a go . With HPET on i was ~ 150 micro secs , with it disabled i'm < 20 micro secs .
This seems pretty good to me but are there any potential downsides to doing this ( running win7ult 64 ) ? .

Hi
To be fair I think the only downside is that there might be a slight performance hit but from my experiments it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference one way or the other.

Well what i've noticed after a little bit of trying it on/off is that the micro-stutter i got with my sli setup has gone with it off completely , turn it back on and there it is again so i'll leave it off

Yes certainly worth trying but please let me know how you get on with it disabled as it is not something that tends to get much testing.

Well i gave it a good go but have re-enabled it for now . what i found was that although it seems to remove the odd stutter it had an adverse effect on my keyboard/mouse input where it felt like your not really in control in an fps , turning it back on and all back to " normal " . Maybe something to play with later

Interesting anyway. I didn't notice that when I was playing, I mean experimenting and testing, but maybe I just didn't notice at the time.
