H67A-UD3H-B3 infinite reboot

Hello everybody,

I got my H67A-UD3H-B3 exchanged from my reseller because of the coil whine noise and got problems with the new one.
After installation, the system began to reboot just after POST. After a clear CMOS, I managed to boot the system up and I could flawlessly use it all the night. This morning, the system was rebooting in loop and I had to stop it manually.
On the next start, the system started with an error screen indicating the BIOS was corrupted and had to be restored from the backup BIOS, this was done by the system.

The reboot sequence goes like this : PSU starting -> Speaker beeps -> BIOS showing up -> At the moment where the HDD is booted the PC shuts down -> 3 sec pause (PC off) -> PSU starts agin…
If I press tab, I can go to the BIOS menu and the system behave “normally” and don’t reboot.

Did anybody had the strange behavior with its H67A-UD3H-B3 ?

Have you got a "green" hard drive for your boot drive ?

If not follow these instructions:

Please also confirm for me your BIOS chips have matching BIOS versions in them, if not this can sometimes occur as well.

To check, go into the BIOS and on the MAIN page press F9 for system info.   You should see both BIOS versions listed, if they do not match please update the backup BIOS to match the current.

To do that, reboot and where you would normally press DEL to enter the BIOS, instead press Alt + F12, this will flash the Backup BIOS with the MAIN BIOS contents.   Do not worry when you see a recovery comment, that is normal and means it is flashing the backup BIOS.

 Do what DM suggested.....good chance this is it........the only thing I can add is

 Have you tried flashing it to the latest Bios and follow what DM states once your happy it's stable........... and are all the components running SATA ........there has been reports from X58 and up a IDE optical (CD-DVD) connected to the system can give boot issues.

No green harddrive as boot device (it a Western Digital Caviar Black 1To).

I'll check the BIOS version stuff when back at home this evening.

BIOS version was F2, I updated it to F4 et everything works smooth now.

Concerning the Dual BIOS, when I press F9 in the BIOS' main page, I get a box with the version but it mentions only the main BIOS one. Alt+F12 is ineffective.

 Once your happy that the latest Bios version (F4) works for you, read up in your manual about backing up your present Bios to the second Bios storage.

Actually Gigabyte don't include it in the manual to stop people playing around with it. You will have to do it like I suggested earlier. You may well find that the noitification during the flashover wont display.
