Great look! Can't wait to have a play around with it. Personally I don't think i would choose it over the standard high tech for everyday use but brilliant toy! Has the nice and easy look for people who are not so familair with the BIOS and feel threatened by it. Much more user friendly feel. Well done Gigabyte!

This is the kind of UEFI BIOS that many have been waiting for and I'm sure it will prove to be a big hit.

I have just one question, will it be applied in BIOS updates to any of the current motherboards AMD and Intel, or will only be appearing on new plates?
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

For today (or rather next week ;)) only on X79 platform.

I presume though that as Gigabyte has been making all the latest motherboards with the bigger BIOS chips to take the bigger UEFI files that they will actually impliment the update on all the later boards, maybe just not straight away.

No more Award BIOS for X79 boards.
Now is "American Megatrends Inc." (AMI) BIOS,same as ASUS (8,192 KB).

Thanks for that info ex58.  I can't say I am surprised though as AMI have always been ahead when it comes to the UEFI type of interface. I had a Supermicro server board many years ago that had an AMI BIOS that was very much like a EFI in as much as it was done in grouping and controllled by mouse even then.

Hi Dark Mantis,  ;)

I have found this software, infos only...

AMIDiag for UEFI
http://www.ami.com/amidiaguefi/
http://www.ami.com/news/pressshow.cfm?PrID=279
http://www.ami.com/support/doc/AMIDiagforUEFIv2.41_datasheet_PUB_04142010.pdf

I suppose the Gigabyte technicians have access to this software ...?

Damage, I would have liked to see it. And have it too....

Yes I had the same board and it was way ahead of it's time then. I couldn't understand why they didn't carry on with it as it seemed to work brilliantly.
