My GA-X58A-UD5 and XMP
« on: June 04, 2011, 12:19:32 pm »

I have tested with My GA-X58A-UD5 the XMP mode

But after my thermal InfraRed Thermo-Meter read some 60 degres for the 6 memory sticks

Finnaly i reuse normal default mode , temperature sticks are with some 40 degres

Not sure that XMP mode is interessant

Pierre

This makes some sense. When you enable XMP mode the memory voltage will be increased which will cause the memory to run hotter.

  Hiya Pierre !

Your always tinkering....good for you !

I suppose the question is, ... with the XMP profile enabled,  was there a performance boost I want to keep ,but with out the Temp kick!

Pierre because Ive been swapping in some different Mem Modules I took it off water for the time being and did a simple mod to a Geil Cyclone Memory cooler by adding a couple of extra 50mm fans........this gives me a quick turn around time when trying out other modules and gives me Temp readout sitting on the Memory

Ive included a dusty Snip to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

Hi Pierre

Bill has alread mentioned that the voltage will increase as part of the XMP setting. If you want the extra performance it is something that you have to accept. Whether you use the XMP or set it all up manually you are going to have to raise the memory voltage which will up the heat produced by the sticks.

You can of course add extra cooling as Allan suggested if it rises too much.

I have not see many differences between XMP & normal values

Because i have not a free personnal nuclear electric central i have reprogrammed with default parameters !!!

The Fuel rods are really hard to get hold of every year or two but the reactor was the best buy I've ever made... ;D
