GA-P55-UD3L RAID doesn't seem to work

GA-P55-UD3L RAID doesn't seem to work
« on: May 06, 2011, 04:51:31 pm »
Hi,

I just go a Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3L motherboard with an i3 540 and I was just going to configure my two drives in a RAID array to install my system on.
BUT I don't get any RAID option during bootup.. I read the manual and configured the SATA thing to RAID/IDE then it says I should get a new option to push Ctrl+G to enter RAID array setup utility but I don't. It doesn't even work if I push Ctrl+G all the time until it says "DISK BOOT FAILIURE etc.".

So whats wrong here? I have the latest BIOS, FI. I need to get this s*** working, I don't really understand why this doesn't work even if I do EXACTLY as the manual says..

Can anyone help me please!?

Thanks,

Dark Mantis

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte forum.

Have you got the drives attached  to the GSATA ports ?

Have you enabled RAID in the BIOS for the ports ?

Thanks for the very quick reply, it work now!

CTRL + G is for the GSATA ports in RAID mode and CTRL + I is for the Intel ports in RAID mode.

just a little note to all who are unable to enter the raid menu with ctrl-g:

I have installed everything correctly on my GA-D525TUD and the post-screen with the ctrl-g message also appeared. but when I was hitting ctrl-g nothing happened. the screen ended again in "verifying dmi pool"... "disk boot failure" etc.

after spending some hours on this problem, upgrading bios firmware etc. I switched my keyboard from the usb to the keyboard port. after that, I was able to send the ctrl-g command.

strange thing is, I was able to enter the bios when my keyboard was connected to the usb port. so, I assumed that my keyboard was working fine...

so, always plug your keyboard into the keyboard port instead of usb, if you're encountering strange problems :-)

Yes that is good advice. You should always have your keyboard attached to the main port on the back panel. It can cause all sort of problems otherwise.
