Memory and core detection issue

Memory and core detection issue
« on: June 05, 2011, 02:29:28 pm »
Hi All,

I have a GA-880GM-UD2H with 4GB RAM, AMD Phenom II x6 1090T, winxp pro SP3.

The issue I am facing is that OS is only showing 2.75GB of RAM and 803 Mhz of processor. ALso the fan makes noise.

I have attached a snapshot with  the information of  system information, Core settings in BIOS, BIOS information.

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards

Hi there,

From the screen shots you have posted it would seem that BIOS is detecting your CPU OK. It is probably only showing as 803 MHz because the processor is idling (not do anything) this is a feature of the processor that allows it to slow down to save energy when it is not working and then speed up again when it is actually doing something. Run some programmes and see if the speed of the CPU increases whilst the processor is actually working.

Your RAM is also being shown as 4 Gig in BIOS.
The reason that Windows is only showing 2.75 Gig is probably due to the use of the on-board graphics and also Windows will always steal some some RAM for itself. This is normal and is nothing to worry about.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.
