New motheboard won't boot, gives LONG beeps.. HELP!
« on: June 07, 2011, 12:48:01 am »
I just put this system together...  i7-960, Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboard, Corsair 3 sticks of TR3X6G1600C9 2G RAM DDR3.  Running Galaxy GTX460
video.

Got it all put together and all it does is spin the fans and give out long beeps over and over.  Manual says it's "video card not installed properly".
Well, I tried the vid card in all 4 PCI-E slots and tried my old Gforce 7600 too.  No video from either card and long beeps.  Tried 2 different monitors also

Is it possible that the RAM is not compatible?  Did I get a bad motherboard?  Are my 2 Nvidia video cards not compatible.  They work in the old machine
which is also a Gigabyte running a Q6600 processor.

Any help?????  Please???????

One long continues beep is vid/s not installed properly .......lots of long beeps usually points to memory problem........try pulling all memory except the one in slot one and see if it'll boot.

I found out I had the memory in the wrong slots.  There are 3 blue and 3 white slots.  I thought they belonged in the blue.  When I switched them to the white slots it worked fine.
Now I'm trying to enable the 6 GB per second hard drive.  I have a Western Digital 1 TB hard drive that is supposed to be able to handle it and the new motherboard has the GSATA ports.  I got the drivers all installed, but the hard drive is still the slowest part of my system.  I wonder if I have to reinstall
the OS to get full speed.

My performance index is 5.9 with the HD holding it at that.  Everything else is 7.5 or better.

As far as I'm aware......GSATA is SATA II.......you'll have to go over to the Marvell ports that support the SATA III standard....you'll also have to load the appropriate drivers for those ports.........Good luck Jim!

Hi

I have just answered this question in your other post. Please try not to double post as it can get confusing for everyone.

As I said there you will not be able to get SATA3 speeds off any controllers on this board. The Marvell controlled ports never made the grade.
