Problem with P55A-UD3R v.1.0
« on: June 03, 2011, 08:22:14 pm »
Hi,

I played some games (Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty Black Ops and others) when my computer rebooted after 10-20 minutes. This problem not happenned with all games only with some games.
I tested RAM with Memtest and errors are shown. I changed my two old modules Kingston KVR1333D3N9/2G to KHX1600C9D3B1K2/4G and reboot continue.

Must I change RAM voltage to solve this problem?

Thank you very much

Regards

Hi

You said you changed your two old modules, but are there more than two modules in the system ?

Is the memory a matched kit ?

Is the memory on the QVL of either Gigabyte or Kingston's list for this motherboard ?

Try listing your other system components to make things a little clearer please.

I tested my CPU with Prime95 during 6 hours without errors and maximum temperature was 65ºC (149ºF). I tested my GPU too with Furmark during 10 minutes without and maximum temperature was 78ºC (172.4ºF). The problem is that when I tested RAM with Memtest errors appeared. I think the problem isn´t RAM because I changed it. I think the problem is in motherboard configuration or motherboard doesn´t work.

Sorry for my bad English ;-)

Thanks a lot

So from what you have said it sounds like you might have some faulty memory there. Don't be fooled by the fact that you have replaced it as a percentage of RAM is faulty when purchased. The following tests do take some time but are worth doing properly.

Please follow these instructions exactly.

I would suggest that you download and run the latest version of  Memtest86+ to check your RAM first.

Memtest86+        http://www.memtest.org/

Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 complete loops/cycles and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all  modules.

If you have any errors the module is faulty.

If you have any faulty modules you will have to return the whole kit as they are matched.

Post back when you have done that with the results.

Hi,

I inserted one stick of memory in slot 1 and ran Memtest on it for at least 10 complete loops/cycles as you said and there are no errors. I switched off the computer and then I switched on the computer. I ran Memtest on the same stick again and errors appeared. I did the same with other stick and with both sticks and errors appeared. I changed 6 memory sticks yet for this problem. I think problem is on the motherboard for any reason.

Thank you

It is always a possibility that the memory controller is faulty on the motherboard. You can always try RMAing it to your local GGTS centre in Spain.

I have a question. Does it possible this is a CPU problem too?

Thanks Dark Mantis.

It is possible that a faulty CPU could cause thesse problems.
