One of the best thank you's ever!

Just  been given what I consider to be one of the best thank you's for helping one of my wife's friends get her Computer rebuilt, restored, on-line and networked.



She knows how I feel about a good cup of tea and a swear and she thought this was the best way to thank me!   

So..... What's been your best thank you present, not including money or hardware?

  This is for real!..........A letter from a solicitor for damages ........... claiming I was negligent in not exercising enough care in recovering lost data after a "Friend" of mine asked me to try and recover a backup hard disc in a laptop he accidentally wrote over....."Twice" ......Only in England!

It is hard to believe that some people will go to such lengths and after you have done them a favour too! Was there any remuneration involved or was it purely "gratis" ?

 Not likely!...... The solicitor was his wife, and it was her laptop ..... After explaining my version of events, ... I never heard from either of them again!

 I suspect he was telling her porkies as to why I was trying to fix it in the first place

  Yeah! ... Right! ... Dear Mrs Solicitor......(from her perspective before our correspondence),.......Hi!.... I lost all of the HDD master copy covering 2 yrs of work your husband sent me while cleaning and defragging your hard drive  ... as this took me 2 hrs to do, would you be so kind as to make the Cheque payable to my brother, ... a Mr C.Ash.........Make sure you tell your friends about our fast Secure wiping service.

No I can imagine. If it had been my wife I would have been found guilty and serving a life sentence even before the enveloppe hit the floor! Talk about drama!
