« on: July 12, 2011, 05:31:03 pm »
Can't get Puppy or PC Linux boot discs to boot. Must be driver missing for this board so how do I get the drivers and  install them to the  boot CDs?
Thanks.

Hi

I can't help you on the Linux front but have you tried pressing F12 when booting to get the boot options to open ?

Thank you. Yes, I'm initially  booting with my DD/DVD drive. PC Linux halts with a splash screen and Puppy doesn't finish loading either.

I'll give Ubuntu a try and post back later. Thanks. I've got about 7 bootable distros but Ubuntu might have the drivers as it is the most popular

Ubuntu works like a dream. Everything loaded automatically, even the Internet and my printer. Impressive! Thanks.  ;)

Good news! I don't have a lot to do with Linux but do use Ubuntu and Puppy a little. Anyway main thing is you got it working.  ;)

Hi,

pleased you got Ubuntu running but sorry I didn't notice this thread sooner as I have encountered this issue before and I discovered that in some instances, when installing from a live version, you need to press the F6 key on the Distros BOOT Options Home page and set the option "noapic".

This link is to the Ubuntu Forums but shows the screens I am talking about: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions but the options are pretty similar in other versions of Linux.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.
