GA-MA790 IDE HDDnot reccognized in BIOS
« on: July 06, 2011, 07:58:59 am »
I have been trying to get a WD IDE hdd to run on a GA-MA790FXT-UD5P Mother Board using the onboard  IDE socket but once it is plugged in the bios is not reccognizing it. Iam  running the M/B in fail safe mode and was woundering wether some ajustment to the Bios might be needed to get it to run and what that change, if any, is needed to be done.
I have configured the hdd as a  master & a slave but there is no response to either

Hi there,

I would suggest that the first thing to do is go into BIOS and load Optimised Defaults, save and exit. Reboot and go back into BIOS and see if the IDE Drive is then being recognised.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

As absic suggested clearing the CMOS and loading Optimised BIOS Defaults should help. Failing that try CS (Cable Select) on the drive. If you also have SATA drives on the motherboard try disconnecting them and then see if the BIOS can see the IDE drive. Quite often there is a conflict between the two.
