I want to upgrade my CPU, but i am not sure what CPU my motherboard can take, my Motherboard is ga-k8n51gmf-9, i have looked on the CPU socket list but that don't make any sense to me, could it take AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0 GHz 2MB Cache Dual Core Processor, if not could someone recommend the best one for my motherboard,

Your motherboard supports socket 939 processors.  The processor you are asking about is a newer AM3 socket.

So no, it wont work in your board. 939 is DDR memory and AM3 has memory controllers for DDR2/DDR3.

You would need an  AM2+, or AM3 motherboard.

The best cpu you could get for your board,if you can find one is the Athlon 64x2 4800+.
