Hi.
I have a pair of Intel E1G42ET PCIe x4 dual-port network cards installed in the motherboard, but the one in the x16 slot is not recognised by any operating system I've tried (FreeBSD8, FreeBSD9, Ubuntu 11.04, OpenBSD4.9). Swapping the NICs around results in no difference - whichever is in the x16 slot is not showing on the PCI bus. Both NICs work in other machines.
If I remove the NIC from the x16 slot and insert a low-end PCIe-powered graphics card to test the slot, it works.
Upgrading the BIOS from F2 (factory) to F4 (latest) has had no effect.
BIOS settings are default apart from the SATA being set to AHCI mode.
Any ideas? The motherboard is marketed as having two x1 slots, a x8 slot (x16 physical) and a x16 slot (which will operate max x8 when something's in the x8 slot) - there's nothing in the product description or manual about the x16 slot only being for graphics cards.
