GA-EX58-UD3R Questions
« on: August 21, 2011, 09:36:51 pm »
I have a system built on the GA-EX-UD3 R board. I have a I7-720 processor overclocked to 3.8. It has been doing fine, except I think my BIOS may not be set correctly. I think that the way SATA is set up may be wrong. I have an Intel X25-M 160 GB SSD for my system drive. I have two other drives that are regular Hard Drives. Intel put out an update to the firmware for the SSD I burned it to CD but when I ran it ,it said there was no SSD connected or it was disabled. I need help please.

What ports are you using?  Marvell, Intel, Gsata.....and IDE, ACHI, RAID?..... ;).....the single SSD (OS) did you load it up under IDE or ACHI and what is it running on now?

Some SSDs are temperamental with updates (Firmware) under ACHI!

Right now it is set on the (Integrated Peripherals) the (Onboard SATA/IDECtrl Mode) is IDE. I'm not sure about ports.

Ideally it should be set to AHCI mode and on the SATA2_0 port which is the first port on the motherboard. If you have to change it from IDE mode to AHCI mode then you will need to make aterations in the registry first.

Make the following registry changes in windows, then reboot the BIOS and enable AHCI and then load windows, after that you will be in AHCI mode.

Enable switching between all IDE/AHCI/RAID modes by changing "Start" Values in these keys to 0 (Win 7 / Vista ONLY)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci\Start
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pciide\Start
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\iaStorV\Start
