wanted - int.CF reader w/USB 3.0
« on: August 20, 2011, 09:26:10 pm »
I'm having trouble finding a front panel card reader that also has USB 3.0 ports.

There are some, but the main problem is, these products want you to route typical USB cables through your PC and out to the rear exterior 3.0 ports.
I want one that makes use of my mobo's 3.0 pin header.....20pin (actually, 19pin)

any ideas? (USA)

Yes, Giga makes a 3.0 port front panel (3.5"), but that requires 'another' front panel slot.
(Part No. 12CR1-FPX582-0*R .... though I can't seem to find this on their site, nor a photo of it anywhere)

Interesting.
I don't need the PCIe card, as a vacant 3.0 header is already on my mobo.
But the price is near the same as gigagyte's 3.0 faceplate accessory, with no PCIe card. ???

 less expensive....($12 + shipping)

Here's a 19pin mobo header "changer" that converts that header on the mobo, to a standard 3.0 jack.....

http://www.delock.com/produkte/gruppen/USB+Adapter/Delock_Adapter_USB_30_pin_header_19_pin_female_USB_30-A_female_65288.html

EDIT:
I checked the pinouts, they indeed match the mobo header (good thing to check !!)

...pretty cool, you can add a 32gig USB stick inside your computer, @ 4.8Gbps speed....nice for Photoshop "scratchdisk" space maybe??

EDIT #2:
FYI for you nerds....Intel's 3.0 specifications http://download.intel.com/technology/usb/USB_3.0_Internal_Connector_and_Cable_Specification.pdf

EDIT #3...
Here's another header changer (dual)
