Set up 1866 memory onA75MD2H

Hi,

I have bought the motherboard a75m d2h, which is compatible with ddr3 1866 modules.
Also i have in my computer 2 modules of Gskill ddr3 RAM this one; [ RipjawsX ] F3-17600CL9D-4GBXLD
Which is up to 2200mhz.

I tried to configure the bios to set up the memory in 1866mhz, but i had no luck because the system didnt boots up.
Only configured to 1600 the system starts with no problem.

I don't know what i have exactly to configure on the bios to properly boot the pc, can you help me to configure the bios??

Hi htere,

do you know which BIOS version you are running on this board?
The latest is F3 and i twould be worthwhile updating to this version if you are not already running it before we go any further.
You can download the F3 BIOS from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3930#bios and I would recommend that you use QFlash for running the update.

I forgot to tell that i updated the bios to the latest version, the f3.

I uploaded 2 pics to show how I configured the RAM.

Only tweak the memory clock, the rest of the values, auto settings, meaybe I should change them...


But, trying to boot the system, this is the message I receive:

Hi there,

You will probably need to increase the DRAM Voltage which, by default, will be set at 1.5V. If I have found the correct RAM Modules that you are using they need to be at 1.65V to run at their rated speed.

You will need to set the System Voltage Control to Manual to allow you to increase the voltage and when you do so, you will get an overvolt warning but you don't need to worry about that. BEFORE you do increase the voltage, check the packaging to make sure I have got the correct information and that your RAM is the 1.65V set I have been looking at.

Hi,

I configured manually the system voltage control, and I set up the ddr3 voltage to 1,60v.

The system booted up, but a few minutes the whole computer hang, and appeared the blue screen telling a message of the memory..

Tomorrow I'll try to configure the voltage to 1,65v instead of 1,60v. Don't know if the voltage set to 1,60 was the reason of the blue screen...

You will probably find that you will actually have to select 1.66v for the memory. Don't worry about the red colour.

Overclock your north bridge as well or you could damage the CPU's integrated memory controller.
