MA78LMT-US2H Revisions
« on: August 09, 2011, 01:47:29 pm »
I  have noticed there are 4 revisions of this board... rev 1.1, 1.3, 3.4 and now there is a rev 3.5..

What changes have been made?

I think it's a great little board ( I currently have a rev 3.4) running a Phenom X6 1055T at a very stable 3.5GHz on stock voltages.  ;D

Have just ordered another to run a 955BE....

My only complaint about this board is the single PS/2 port...  :(

Ah, welcome to the world of mysteries of the new revisions.

Quite often there is nothing blindingly obvious in different revisions and it can be as simple as changing one make of capacitor for a different brand. Some revisions are more obvious ie layout, Larger BIOS chips or different CPU socket.

The most obvious things I can see between the different revisions here is the Realtek Audio chip is different on some of the boards as is the LAN Chip.

New board is on it's way, when I phoned them to quiz them which revision all they could tell me was it was showing as "rev 3"

Have just noticed the difference LAN and Audio on the 3.5.

Rev 1.1  seems to have Firewire socket on the I/O which is missing on the later revisions http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3289#sp

Tried the 955BE on an Asus board which Asus claims is compatible with the 125W CPUs...... and it wouldn't even run stable at stock without throttling to CPU.... So I guess I'll stick with Gigabyte..  :D

New board arrived today and it's a rev 3.5  ;D

Tomorrow I'm going to do some overclocking and see what I can get out of this 955BE

Pleased the board arrived safely and don't forget to let us know how your overclocking goes. You can post your results, pics and question in the AMD Overclocking section of the forum, which you can find here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/board,51.0.html

I'm not a hardened overclocker, I only fiddle with FSB settings ( and obviously the multiplier with this BE) and leave stuff like voltage and RAM timings alone. I am not after huge overclocks, rather a stable performance boost without pushing the CPU/mobo to the edge.

My 1055T is running great at 3.5GHz just by upping the FSB to 250.... and this is on a MA78LMT-US2H rev 3.4.

My new board is basically the same set up - I am using the same memory - 2x2GB Corsair Value Select..

Well, I am one happy chappy!!!!

MA78LMT-US2H  + 955BE + 4GB Carsair Value Ram = 4.25Ghz with default voltages.....   ;D

Started getting BSOD if I pushed it towards 4.35GHz, so settled  on 4.25.... ;D

Just about to do another build using a MA78LMT-US2H, this one is for a mate and he has ordered a 560BE with it. He plans to use it as a media centre.
