GA-P55A-UD3 and X58A-UD5 - SATA cable clip interference
« on: August 28, 2011, 04:57:37 pm »
The vast majority of SATA cables on the market have metal clips that help to ensure a connection stays that way. However, each of my Gigabyte motherboards have stacked connectors that prevent their use.  ( I use 3 HDDs in one build and 4 in the other - I can't put them side-by-side.)

I don't understand why the required separation is not provided.

Hi and welcome.

The metal spring locks are part of what makes up the USB2.0 connector specifications and shouldn't get in the way at all. I have the GA-X58A-UD7 motherboard which is almost identical to yours and  use all the ports with those connectors without problem. I cannot understand why you do have an issue with them.

Are you using the cables that were supplied with the motherboard becaus ethey fit perfectly ?

Can you post a picture of the offfending cable and the port please.
