Gigabyte UD9 ..Upgrading to LSI 9265 8I Raid Controller.
« on: September 03, 2011, 03:15:30 pm »
Hi all..first post on this forum, and i will try to make this short and get right to the question..Are their any issues with the UD9 running the (F4) BIOS and the LSI 9265-8I raid card?  Presently running dual gtx 580 sli in the first 2 16 bit pci slots and have plans to install the LSI 9265 8i in the next avalable 16 bit pci slot...if you google the question, their are issues with the LSI 9260 Version....out of memory errors when trying to install O.S. etc...Any suggestions, tips, bios setting, would be greatly appreciated.   I was using a Areca 1231 Ml on a Evga 759 classified board with no issues..Is GIGABYTE VIP service still avalable?  as i did register the motherboard when i purchased it...and they failed to reply to this question using the VIP service...Thanks all for your input.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Have you already been on the forum under a different name as your question sounds awfully familiar?

Anyway personally I haven't heard about any problem like that but we don't get a massive amount of information or problems with the UD9 on this forum. As far as I am aware the VIP service is still functioning at least I haven't heard anything to the contrary. Maybe someone else can help you with more information.

If it's going in a Giga board.......It's either here or OCZ really.......Asus a Maybe but then it's not relevant for the board targeted

Personally you should not have any problems at all as Giga's PCI-Es seem to eat most that are thrown at them..... I run a RocketRaid 640 and performance is excellent.....I don't use it as boot so had to kill some per-configured setting in bios to stop option ROM errors

Bellow is a little teaser pic for you of what you can expect if the bank job goes well to finance the drive list....This was on a EVGA board and there's a link for the full review

The only other forum that might be able to help as yopu really need a Gigabyte Forum is our friends over at TweakTown in the States. They are not just limited to Gigabyte  but are very knowledgeable  and busy.
