my cpu stuck at 800 mhz

my system is

amd phenom 550 3.1ghz
gigabyte ma785gt ud3h
hd4200
kingstone 2gb 1333
hec 350w psu


its 1 years old system

works fine until yesterday
when i played a game and it was very slow
when opened cpuz
found clock speed at 800mhz

fsb at 200
and multiplier 4

what i tried

1_win7 give my cpu score ( 2 )
 when it used to be 6.5

2_tried prime 95
clocks didnt increase



3_reset the cmos
doesnt work

4_disabled cool and quiet
doesnt work

5_power managment in windows set it to performance
doesnt work

6_updated bios doesnt work

7_downgraded bios doesnt work

8_updated bios again no luck

9_downloaded amd overdrive and tried to increase the multiplier
no luck still stuck at 4


until i found this



the cpu vid used to be 1.32

but now its 0.9750

and btw the cpu vid differ than the cpu core

now i think its psu issue

so what iam asking u guys
is  to try to lower multiplier using the powermanegment in windows
and read the cpu vid value

i think this value doesnt change even in idle


plz plz plz help me

Hi

I am not the AMD guru but from reading your post my first thought would be that your PSU is far too small and I suspect that it is a power problem. You should really be using about 550W upwards for safety.

So the next thing is to change your PSU. Never buy a cheap and nasty power supply they can go wrong and take out all you other expensive components at the same time. Not only that just because it is marked 600W often they are nowhere near that rating. Purchase a good make like Seasonic, CWT, Corsair, Thermaltake, Enermax, Gigabyte, Coolermaster, Antec, etc and try and get one with a single 12V rail if possible. I would advise you to get one of about 550W minimum. If you can just borrow one to test with then fine do so.
