In one sense Allan it would be good for the customer if there were a governing body that overlooked
the whole industry. As a novice & there is such a thing then they are not doing their job. I read recently
that a lot of problems are being caused by using uncertified memory. Even to the point that memory is
being made to suit certain chipsets. Having read a recent returns form done with test results, displayed on
this Forum was disgusted with Gigabyte on the test being done using only two sticks of memory.
I've run an X48T-DQ6 for probably well over three yrs. Only problem to start with was PSU died. Had it
repaired as irreplaceable. Then I doubled memory using extra slots. Expensive DDR3, next thing constant
freezing. Rather than waste a lot of time, purchased more memory double size using 1 & 3 slots only.
The GA-EX58-UD3R was an easy board to program & appeared very stable but...intermittant memory problems.
never been used apart from progamming. Expect I will get that back with a bill for no fault found. !!! I notice
with all the recomended memory from Gigabyte, 1 or 2 gb. Do they ever test their boards with full memory
capacity.
Apart from AMD, Intel seem to call all the shots even with M$. Look at the last disaster with series 6 CPU.
It's non ending, faster PCs are produced so then the software apps become larger to slow them down.
Win 7 was quite quick to start with then came the updates to beat the morons that put out malaware & hackers.
