Hi there,
Got a new PC using a GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 (rev 1.0), Intel i7 2600. The mobo originally came with F5 BIOS version.
Everything works perfectly, but I hear a strange whining thru the speakers (like a mix of processing, mouse scrolling, etc). The thing is that the speakers are plugged to a Firewire interface (which is turned OFF, by the way), not the on-board sound card. I updated to F5 BIOS version, but the problem persists. As soon as Windows boots, the noise starts, no matter if the Firewire soundcard is off or on, just powering on the speakers.
I've been reading here of similar problems on other mobos, and people suggesting to disable C3/C6 states. Is that safe? Does that negatively affect the CPU in any way? Doing so implies a higher CPU temperature? I'm not doing overclock, so just want to use the regular features and CPU speed.
The whining is hardly bearable, as I use the PC for music production, and need a quiet environment as much as possible. Never had that noise before with my old PC.
Thanks a lot for your attention, guys
