data ports as only raid or single disk operation

data ports as only raid or single disk operation
« on: September 18, 2011, 09:38:35 pm »
I have a GA-990FXA-UD3. I want to run a raid 1 pair  on sata ports 0 & 1. But I want to run just single disk sata drives on the other 4 remaining sata ports. How do I set this in the bios. The bios states (SATA Controller:Enabled, SATA Type:RAID, SATA Port4/5 Type: As SATA Type, SATA RAID5 Support:Enabled).

From this I assume when I set ports 0 & 1 to raid all the ports are set to raid. Can't I set ports 2 & 3 ro AHCI. The manual does not say hoe to do this.

Thanks for the help

Hi there,

The other drives attached to the SATA ports, that are not in the RAID Array will automatically run in AHCI Mode so you don't need to set anything.

Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.
