Can not boot from USB - gigabyte 890 FXA-UD5 REV 3.1
« on: September 16, 2011, 04:32:33 am »
I think i have set all the options OK in the BIOS, include the boot priority. When i try to boot from a USB, the mother reads it and says it was an error...
The pendrive works OK, i have other giga mother and this USB OS works exelent in this other mother... Its anyone having the same issue ?

Hi

Make sure that you have Legacy USB Options enabled in the BIOS so that it will recognise the USB drive before Windows loads the drivers.

hi there,

is the reported error from the USB Drive or from the OS?

@Dark Mantis: I have that option enabled.

@absic: Its from the USB, bcs that USB-OS works like a charm in other giga mother. The error says something like (i dont remember it exactly and im the office now):

 Loading Operating System...
Boot problem

Nothing else. Before this the mother read the USB Drive, bcs i see how the USB-Drive´s green light blinks.

Hi again,

I'm not sure how running an external USB Drive for the OS works, or the security measures Microsoft might employ, but it could be that the other motherboard is not the same and you need to do a clean installation before it will work. That is, of course, if you're running a Microsoft OS.

Nop is not a Microsoft, its linux. BTW, the problem is not the OS, or the USB drive, as i said, it works perfectly in other giga mother. Im 100x100 sure that the problem is the mother that cant not load the OS in the USB drive...

Are you running the latest BIOS version for your motherboard?

If not it might be worthwhile updating to that and seeing if that helps.

However, if you are running the latest BIOS versoin then you might do better if you contact Tech Support in your area and see if they can help. You can contact them through this link: http://ggts.gigabyte.com/tech.asp?ClassID=2&Country=Argentina&SourceWeb=B2C

Hi again

Usually we recommend using the QFlash Utility but if you are running the original FB BIOS then you will need to use the latest version of @BIOS which you can download from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3781&dl=1#utility (it's about halfway down the list). This piece of software is fairly simple to use but if, once you have installed it your are not sure of how to use it, post back  and I'll try to guide you through the steps.
