Information - Ram - CPU - Mobo compatibility
« on: September 11, 2011, 07:03:51 am »
Hello, i have a question to do with the i7 and supporting ram @ 2000mhz.
My cpu is an Intel i7-990x and my mobo is GA-X58A-UD7.
I have ordered :
CMT12GX3M3A2000C9 Corsair 12GB Kit (3x4GB), PC-16000 (2000MHz) DDR3, Dominator GT, 9-10-9-27, Triple Channel Kit, with CORSAIR Airflow Fan

I am wondering if the combination of these three will support each other?

Thanks,

Hi Guppster, Welcome to forum.

It is best to bring your computer at the counter of the store.
And to test locally.
It would be nice to release the timing of the ram. As 99924. To start trying.

There is no need to have the ram with 2000 mhz for overclocks. Unless you care to have the best records.

Hi

I have a similar motherboard and RAM although only 1600 not 2000 and it all works great together. Whether you will actually be able to reach the full spec of this memory is always unknown but it does guarrantee that the modules themslves will be ok at this speed. This is of course an overclock of the memory and as such is not always possible to reach. Apart from benchmarking you wouldn't notice any difference in day to day running of programs anyway.
