Hello all

Could I ask a favour please?

Would any other owners of this motherboard using air cooled CPU let me know if their CPU fan starts/stops and starts up again during the post sequence when booting up from cold please? 

I got nowhere trying different things people had suggested. I RMA'd the board to the retailer who replied "No fault found", but did not seem to know what I had asked them to check out. They then stated that this is the normal POST procedure for this motherboard - yet they never said this when I discussing the problem with them and then obtaining authority to RMA the board..........

I have emailed Gigabyte GTS and in their reply they did not state this is the normal start up procedure - Hence I feel I'm being misled by my retailer.....

  No I don't have your board but a possible answer!

  Generic to Giga boards is a BIOS double start sometimes ( or what I call "boot Stutter") there can be several reasons, overclocking being one .... Applicable to you could be the BIOS has a quick read of the SPD data of your ram.....if it does not correspond with the BIOS it stutters and rereads Just it case it missed something...double start!

  Pull out your memory but leave 1 stick in slot one and reboot a couple of times and see if it still does it.

  Report back your findings

What have you got the cooler(fan) set to in the BIOS ?

Is it connected to the CPU fan header on the motherboard ?

H'mmm - I haven't tried that. When I get the motherboard back from the retailer I'll give that a try - and let you know.

The CPU cooler fan was plugged into the CPU fan header on the motherboard. I had tried all of the different CPU fan settings in the BIOS, saving them and re-booting a few times with each to no avail...... It still performed it's little hiccup trick javascript:void(0);

  Forgot to add ... when you do the single stick thingymajig ... if theres no change , try taking it out of any memory profiles and input the memory timings in manually ... then try a boot or two...
